I’m Dan, a Manchester-based mix engineer working with artists, producers and independent labels to create records that feel distinctive, focused and emotionally engaging.

I approach mixing from a musician’s perspective.

With over 13 years of experience as a drummer and six years playing guitar and bass, I’m drawn to groove, dynamics and performance just as much as the technical side. I want to understand what makes an artist and their record distinctive, then use the mix to bring that through.

I’ve worked across broadcast and commercial audio.

Alongside my music, I’ve delivered broadcast and commercial audio for clients including the NFL, BBC Radio 4, Northern Rail and Modux. My work has also earned airplay across BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 4 and Amazing Radio, reflecting experience across both commercial and broadcast environments.

2022 Remix Competition Winner & Masterclass with Rick Snoman.

Studying at BIMM Manchester from 2020–2023, I won the 2022 Remix Competition and received a one-to-one masterclass with Rick Snoman. Releasing two ambient albums also shaped my approach to texture, space and restraint, teaching me when a mix needs impact and when it needs room to breathe.

I work primarily from an acoustically treated studio in Manchester, with access to professional external facilities when projects require larger recording spaces. My approach is simple: identify what makes a record distinctive, then build a mix that enhances it without losing what makes it unique.
